About us
LaMa is a partnership that originated between a small group of volunteers that saw the need to be an advocate for the many abandoned and abused animals in North Webster Parish, Louisiana (LA) and our northern counterparts of compassionate fosters in Massachusetts (MA). These two groups are lead and inspired by two courageous strong women, Michelle Lewis and Staci Colby. They started a community of kindness in the efforts to save animals and give them a better life.
Michelle Lewis
Co-Founder and President
Michelle has been involved in animal rescue for over 10 years. She resides in Webster Parish with her 3 dogs, 2 cats and also has a small community cat population she cares for. She always has fosters too. She is a whirlwind, is “hands-on” and gets things done even with a full-time job outside of rescue.
Staci Colby
Co-Founder & Vice President
Staci has been involved in animal rescue for over 30 years. She resides in Massachusetts with her husband and 3 cats and rescue dog Tippy; adopted from where else but LaMa. Staci is involved with a lot of the “behind the scenes” work. She also has a full-time job outside of rescue.
